PRAYER ART introduction thoughts

Sometimes it really helps to paint a picture to express a prayer or just an impression in prayer. This one shows a yearning to be full of the Holy Spirit yet knowing well our humanes and the million images we are bombarded with day in and out....
This is just a quick journal entry during a time one of my precious friends made the transition earlier than we all expected...officially she died. I drew this in Switzerland while she was relieved from a severe illness. We talked on the phone a few hours earlier.

PRAYER ART: Diffent people - diffrent stiles

Throughout the centuries people have used ART to express their love for God.
Our human expressions, however pofessional or unprofessional can vary from trying to picture OMNIPOTENCE to INTIMACY.

PRAYER ART: The fruit of the spirit

It does not take a 10 hour meditation and fasting in a vast desert to pray: "God give me more PATIENCE..now!" With an artist personality I always need more PEACE in my heart.
As a family with 3 generations living together we often cry out for LOVE, KINDNESS, FAITHFULNESS, SELFCONTROL, JOY, GENTLENESS and GOODNESS...

PRAYER ART: Worship Art

This painting was done spontaneously during the ESTHER CONFERENCE in DENVER spring of 2007.
I am deeply greatful to the artists of New Life Church in Colorado Springs who handed me their huge paintbrush loaded with red paint and encouraged me to continue with what my mother tought me over 40 years ago....whow, grandma sha-sha is not a teenager anymore :)
This painting is dedicated to Aaron Frueh and Laura Harver who tuly are able to jump the walls of racism, denominationalisem and the clift between people that occurs when we forget the high price HE paid to tear down the curtain in two pieces...making way for us to worship in freedom.

PRAYER ART: some of my own pieces

With those paintings I try to inspire my children, friends and people I never met to think about live on this planet and eternity.....for example the African painting is titeled STAR OF BETHLEHEM. The juror at the local art show thought it was a strange titel :) Later I explained to her that those children who's dad probably died of aids invite us to visit them, lighten the burden of the mother and remeber that Jesus who was born in a smelly cattle cribb is watching over them...with earthly and eternal comfort. Let me know if you are interested in an African Out-Reach.

PRAYER ART: Personal Watercolor Sketches

These sketches are impressions we get when we pray for people. A glimpse of God's heart, an encouragement, a blessing. Not always are we able to finish them, many of them are just small fragments of a prayer.

PRAYER ART: music

Music can be a great inspiration to paint.
My song writer friend, Angie Ruark, and I
work together often.
